Jerry Riness Artist Gallery

Jerry Riness

He’s an artist, a cowboy artist. He paints exquisite scenes that reflect the beauty of the West – its people, Native Americans, cowboys and their animals. His is not the romantic Wild West from the movies — his work depicts real life on the frontier.

Born in Rudyard, Michigan, Sept.9, 1935, he studied with Ben Turner as a boy, in Colorado while growing up on his dad’s ranch.  He served in Naval Intelligence, as a photo interpreter.   He has done magazine covers for True West, and Frontier Times (1981-1985).  He was elected to Salmagundi Club of New York (1983).  Jerry painted as a resident gallery artist in Jackson Hole, Wyoming (1981-1984).  He was featured in Gallery section of Western Horseman Magazine in July 1997.
