Deb Munson is a self-taught artist who works out of an upcycled chicken coop on her hobby farm, which is now known as the Coop Studio, in the heart of Wisconsin’s Driftless Region. While she works in a variety of mediums, her favorite is encaustic painting.

Encaustic is a Greek term that means “to heat or burn.” Throughout the encaustic painting process, heat is used. This is accomplished by melting the encaustic medium, applying it hot, and fusing the medium layers together. Bees wax and damar resin make up the encaustic medium.
